2nd August 2024While I offer workshops out on the Isle Of Lunga, it's such a magical and beautiful place, I go whenever I can. With some decent weather forecast, I set off to the island with friends who still live on Mull.
As it was a bit later in the breeding season, some of the puffins were bringing in sand eels, so I tried for a few flight shots of them. But the problem with Lunga, is if there isn't enough of a breeze, the puffins fly up the cliffs, and "pop" over the top, giving little time for locking the focus on.
So I had a look for other images, and one I've been after is of a puffin at rest, beak tucked into its feathers. And as luck would have it, I found one near the path chilling out.
The benefit of the RF100-500mm lens is that it allows close-focusing, and that coupled with the wonderful 45MP sensor on the R5, yields some great detail.
It might not be the most technical or difficult image to obtain, but it is beautiful.
